Transmit SENSE
Multi-Channel Parallel Excitation (Work-in-progress)
Bruker BioSpin MRI is realizing the multi-channel transmission parallel excitation technology Transmit SENSE on its BioSpec® and MedSpec® systems*. Transmit SENSE combines spatially-selective RF excitation with principles of parallel imaging. The implementation is based on the multiple independent transmitter channel architecture of the Bruker BioSpin AVANCE platform.
Transmit SENSE provides:
- Complex shaped 2D & 3D spatially-selective excitation patterns to define arbitrary ROIs
- Reduced-FOV imaging leading to shorter scan times (e.g. single shot EPI techniques)
- Compensation of RF inhomogeneity caused by dielectric RF effects (‘B1 shimming’)
- Reduced off-resonance effects (e.g. B0, chemical shift)
Spatially-Selective Excitation
Transmit SENSE provides 2D and 3D spatially-selective excitation allowing reduced-FOV imaging. Shorter acquisition times can be achieved via a reduction of the phase encoding steps, of special interest in single shot echo planar imaging techniques. Spectroscopic applications benefit from arbitrarily shaped excitation volumes.
